Jason and I both grew up in Eagan, MN. However, it took us 17 years to finally run into one another. After meeting we realized that our paths had crossed at many times throughout our lives…
As very young children we played at the same wooden park down the street from my Aunt and Uncles house and Jason’s grandparents located in St. Louis Park. I like to think that we chased each other around, but Jason says he “was not interested in girls!” Years passed and we went to the same safety camp together run by the city of Eagan. (This was discovered by my friend who spotted Jason in the back row of a picture we had from that camp).
So as a romantic (and someone who has watched way too many chick flicks) I like to think that we were always meant to be and the world was just waiting for the perfect time for us to meet.
It was Christmas break of our senior year of high school and my friend Cori was throwing a party. (with her parents permission, of course:)) Jason showed up with some of his friends and were doing something very impressive…as all high school boys usually are. I remember asking my friends who that cute guy was on the couch and wouldn’t stop talking about how much I loved his tattoo on his arm (I know how lame…my friends still won’t let me live that one down!) I don’t know how I managed to build up the courage, but I went over and started talking to him. I to this day do not remember what we talked about, but something must have clicked.
We “dated” for about 4 months. He would pick me up in his parents purple Mercury Sable (obviously it wasn’t his ride that won me over) and we would do the usual high school date…movie, dinner, etc. Finally after I played hard to get and ignored him while I was on Senior Spring Break he decided to get serious. He brought me out on our official first date on April 3, 2002 to non other than….Cattle Company. At dinner that night he pulled out a diamond heart shaped necklace and I knew he was a keeper! A diamond necklace on the first real date…little did I know it would take nearly a decade to get my next set of diamonds, but it sure has been worth the wait.
We have been through a lot…and I mean a lot over the past 9 years together. We are excited for all of you to share in this start to the next part of our lives together.
