As you all know we have been together for many years….7 to be exact. We took a trip to California to visit my brother about 4 years ago. On the trip we went on a short winery tour and bought a bottle of champagne from Fortino Winery to bring home with us. We always said we would save this bottle for a “special” occasion…never specifying exactly what.

So, fastforward 4 years to Dec. 23rd. We were celebrating our Christmas together before leaving town the next day to go to my Grandma’s. Jason had stopped to get some sushi for dinner so I got home from work and we quickly ate (I think he was rushing because he was so excited!). It was time to exchange gifts. He opened his first…a book titled “What Your Poo is Telling You” and ”The Hangover” on DVD (Very Romantic Gifts, I know!!)

It was my turn to open…I unwrapped the gift and it was 4 champagne glasses. I was a little confused because I hadn’t asked for champagne glasses. Then things started clicking because Jason had a big grin on his face. I looked up at the top of the refrigerator where the bottle of champagne had been sitting for the past 4 years and it was gone:) He walked over to the Christmas tree and grabbed the ring box. He walked over to me and knelt down on one knee. You could tell he was a little tongue tied…but managed to get out, “So, whats the answer?” I was of course tearing up and said, “You haven’t asked me the question yet!” He asked and obviously I said “YES!!!”  He opened our front door where the bottle of wine was chilling in the snow bank outside. We popped the bottle and had a toast!

It was exactly how I wanted it to happen and my ring is beautiful! He was definitely worth the long wait and I know that this is how it was meant to be and our life together although it seems like it has started years ago is only just beginning:)
